SecureOne
Simplifying credit card transactions
The problem
SecureOne was a startup who wanted to free people from their wallets, and empower them to control every aspect of their financial lives from their smartphones. Their idea was to provide customers with one “SecureOne” card to replace all of their payment cards. An accompanying app would allow customers to control which card was charged, see their spending each month, and completely deactivate their SecureOne card in the event it was lost or stolen.
My solution
While working as part of a team with Fell Swoop, I proposed a dynamic and responsive redesign that would feel fresh and new upon each visit. I restructured the navigation to help users more easily find the content they were looking for, while at the same time giving them ways to discover brand new content the would also enjoy.
I also introduced a completely redesigned tv schedule that would not only be informative and easy to use, but engaging and mobile-friendly.

Sketches
I sketched out 4 different concepts for several key screens of the app. These screens included the digital wallet, the onboarding process, the transaction view, and spending habits.
User Stories
To understand the requirements of what we were tasked with building, and to better empathize with the users of the application, we wrote user stories to describe each task they would need to accomplish with the app.
We paired these with slightly more refined versions of the sketches to convey the full experience, and tell the story of SecureOne.

Visual Design
During our engagement with the SecureOne team, the struck a deal with Discover Card. This informed our design decisions in that we need to select a color palette that would be flexible to accommodate as many cards as a user might have, but would also work with Discover Card’s established brand.
Designs for the onboarding tutorial that ends with users activating their proxy SecureOne card with a supplied swiper.
The main page of the app where users can set their default card with a single tap, or lock their card with a swipe.
Data visualizations to track spending, and list views of transactions.
Users could set certain merchants as “favorites,” and as a way of monetizing their app, SecureOne offered merchants the ability to purchase offers that SecureOne customers could take advantage of.
Results
Unfortunately, SecureOne wasn’t able to continue as a business, and never launched their app. While I’m proud of my design work, I wish I could have done a better job of counselling the client to take a more Agile approach to their business model. I feel we tried to do too much with the initial launch, rather than focusing on doing one thing really, really, well.
